Dark Reimagining of ‘The Munsters’ Called ‘1313’ Coming Soon

In other news of why can’t they leave the classics alone… The Munsters is getting another remake. After the somewhat disastrous direct-to-video remake in 2022 from Rob Zombie, Universal has announced a new version of the beloved series. Titled 1313, a reference to the Munster’s home address of 1313 Mockingbird Lane, the new series will be a “a darker reimagining of the 1964 classic sitcom The Munsters.”
Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) is the showrunner for 1313 along with James Wan (The Conjuring), Michael Clear and Rob Hackett as executive producers. There isn’t much information out yet about the new series, except that it will be more along the lines of a horror storyline and not the quirky sitcom you know and love from the ’60s. Atomic Monster and LAB BREW are the production companies involved in the series.

This isn’t the first time that a new Munsters show has been in the works. Bryan Fuller of horror movie fame created the series Mockingbird Lane for NBC but it never got past a pilot episode. The horror-comedy served as a Halloween special in 2012.
