Kool & the Gang recently swung by The View and opened up about being one of the most sampled bands in music and shared a fun story about “Ladies’ Night!” The group revealed that they have been sampled over 1800 times. Robert “Kool” Bell said it felt great and joked that someone needed to be on “sample control!”

The band also shared that the song “Ladies’ Night” was inspired by a night at Studio 54. Bell was there with his wife and it was ladies’ night so he felt compelled to make a song about it for their new album since it was a new event happening all over the world.

Kool & The Gang are still going strong and are playing at the Westgate in Las Vegas and getting ready to tour Europe. They admitted that they are not ready for a farewell tour quite yet and will keep performing as long as they can. The ladies of The View called them national treasures and urged fans to go see their show because they are so much fun! The band also revealed that they are hoping to work on a jazz record in 2025 called The Jazzy Acts Are Back. In addition to continuing to make music and touring, Bell has released his own brand of champagne called Le Kool Champagne.

Earlier this year, the group found out they would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bell said that it was a long time coming, especially since he grew up near where the Hall of Fame is located in Cleveland, Ohio. After learning of their induction, he said the gang celebrated with friends and all sang “Celebration!”

What’s your favorite Kool & The Gang tune? They truly have released so many catchy hits!
