Fleetwood Mac was originally formed in July 1967 by guitarist and vocalist Peter Green. The first members were Green, Jeremy Spencer, Bob Brunning and Mick Fleetwood. Over the years, the members have changed and some of the most memorable ones were Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Christine McVie. While the band has broken up and gotten back together, Nicks confirmed that they are broken up for good. Her reason? Christine McVie’s death in 2022 ended any possibility of the band continuing on.

She explained, “There’s no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.” Other members have expressed similar views and several of them are facing health issues, which would rule out their chances of returning anyway.

Buckingham left the band in 2018 after a fight with Nicks and is now dealing with health issues. He reportedly would never be able to do the kind of touring that they used to do which included years on the road. Although this is surely sad news for fans, Nicks said that she will continue to tour solo and hopes to keep the band’s legacy going on her own. Mickwood is also still performing and was recently seen joining Crowded House as they continued their UK tour. Unfortunately, Mickwood recently faced hard times as his restaurant in Maui was taken down by the wildfires.

She said, “Fleetwood Mac is all over my set… I will keep the music of Fleetwood Mac alive, for as long as I can.” This summer, Nicks has several shows left including one with Billy Joel in Chicago. After that, she will head to the UK and Europe for a few remaining sets in July.
