Most people remember where they were when at least one celebrity died. I was on vacation when the news broke of pop singer Michael Jackson’s untimely death and it was all anyone could talk about. It is hard to believe that 15 years have passed since that day. Many people paid tribute to the icon on social media on the anniversary of his death, including some of his family members.

Jackson’s son Prince Jackson shared a beautiful sentiment on Instagram with an image of Jackson performing at the 1993 Super Bowl XXVII halftime show. He wrote, “Miss you pops. The world felt better with you in it.”

While it appears that his siblings Paris, 26, and Bigi, 21 did not post, Paris had previously clapped back against people who thought it was her duty to post about her late father more often. She said sarcastically on social media, “It apparently means that you don’t love them, you don’t care about them,” after fans trolled her for not posting about Jackson’s birthday.

Meanwhile, several of Jackson’s siblings also shared tributes to him on the anniversary of his death. Janet Jackson has been performing “Scream” during her recent shows, a song from 1995 that she used to perform as a duet with Jackson. She was also seen posing with Michael Jackson impersonator Carlo Riley at a meet and greet.

La Toya Jackson wrote on social media, “You changed the world with such exuberant talent in many ways!!! We love you! We will always miss you! Gone too soon! I miss you and I will always love you ,” with a video montage of Jackson. Jackie and Tito Jackson both posted throwback photos with short and sweet messages.

Jackson died of acute propofol intoxication on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50. The story of his life is now being told in a new biopic called Michael, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson. The film is set for an April 18, 2025 release.
