In July, Turner Classic Movies celebrates legendary actress Eva Marie Saint with Thursday night lineups of her memorable films beginning on the star’s 100th birthday. One of the last surviving stars of Hollywood’s golden age, and the oldest living Academy Award winner, Saint was born July 4, 1924, in Newark, New Jersey.
Thursday, July 4
Kicking off with Saint’s first feature film, On the Waterfront (1954), for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Also featured that evening are the classic Hitchcock thriller North by Northwest (1959), costarring Cary Grant and James Mason, and the drama A Hatful of Rain (1957).
Thursday, July 11
The July 11 salute to Saint features the drama All Fall Down (1962), costarring Warren Beatty; the Western Raintree County (1957), also with Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor; The Sandpiper (1965), a drama led by Taylor and Richard Burton; and the comedy That Certain Feeling (1956), also featuring Bob Hope and George Sanders, and making its TCM premiere.
Thursday, July 18
On July 18, enjoy Saint in 36 Hours (1964), a war thriller starring James Garner; the racing drama Grand Prix (1966), also featuring Garner and an international cast; Exodus (1960), the epic historical drama led by Paul Newman; and Carol for Another Christmas (1964), a TV movie written by Rod Serling.
Thursday, July 25
The monthlong celebration concludes on July 25 with The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming (1966), the Cold War comedy also featuring Carl Reiner and Alan Arkin; The Stalking Moon (1968), a Western led by Gregory Peck; Loving (1970), a comedy/drama costarring George Segal; and the TCM premiere of the comedy/drama Nothing in Common (1986), headlined by Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason in his final film role.
