‘NeverEnding Story’ Star to Return to Fantasy Genre With New Film ‘Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps’

The NeverEnding Story Tami Stronach, 1984
Warner Bros./Everett Collection

Tami Stronach, best known as the Childlike Empress in The NeverEnding Story is making her return with her first film role in 40 years. The new fantasy film titled Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps portrays Stronach as the Witch. Greg Steinbruner plays a lonely man working as a goatherd who finds out that he was cursed at birth to never be able to have a wife. He reluctantly makes a bargain with the Witch to reverse the curse. However, if he can’t complete her crazy three tasks, he will never find true love at all.

Stronach has been largely out of the public eye in recent decades after she quit acting as a child to pursue a dance career. She attended conservatories in London and New York and became a choreographer and performer in New York City. She has worked on original stage productions as a dancer, actor, choreographer and producer. In addition to starring in Man and Witch, she also serves as the executive producer.
