“All Out of Love.” “Every Woman in the World.” “Sweet Dreams.” “Even the Nights Are Better.” For nearly five decades, the iconic Australian band known as Air Supply have softly rocked our worlds with musical and emotional mastery, forging an ever-present spot on the playlists of weddings and school dances far and wide. Their music is more popular than ever… so what is the band up to these days?

How Air Supply Started

May 12th, 1975, was the beginning of one of the most successful legacies in music history, as founding band members Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell (along with original member Chrissie Hammond) met for the very first time while reporting for duty as part of an Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar, a tour that would allow them to work together and bond over the next 18 months.

From there, destiny did not take long to take shape. The original version of Air Supply was formed in Melbourne later that year, and the band’s self-titled first album was released in December of 1976.The band struggled through some lean years, failing to make an impact with their first few albums before finally finding success with 1980’s Lost in Love, an album that helped them cross over to American audiences via three US top five singles (the title track, “Every Woman in the World,” and “All Out of Love.”)

Where They’ve Been

To the delight of their fans, Air Supply’s music has never truly gone away — and neither have they. In fact, the band hit a long-awaited milestone in 2013 when they were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame.  In 2018, a jukebox musical based on their greatest hits — All Out of Love: The Musical — debuted at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.

After decades of touring, millions of records sold and multiple band member changes, Hitchcock and Russell are still collecting awards, making music (their Lost in Love Experience live album was released in 2019 – on Valentine’s Day, no less) and putting on amazing shows. In fact, they are currently criss-crossing the United States and beyond on a packed tour that will keep them on the road throughout 2024 and beyond. If you need a bit of soul, a bit of harmony and a whole lot of romance in your life, check out their tour schedule and make your plans to see these legends do what they do best.
