How Rod Stewart Stays ‘Forever Young’ Before His 80th Birthday
Rod Stewart may already be thinking about his 80th birthday in January, but that doesn’t mean he’s scared about it. The rocker is wrapping up his 13-year residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in August, but hopes to continue performing as long as he can. In recent years, Stewart battled both prostate and thyroid cancers, and it inspired him to drop the rockstar lifestyle and do things that are better for his health, like running and drinking lots of water.
When it comes to his looming birthday, he said, “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”
His wife of 17 years, Penny Lancaster, confirmed that Stewart keeps a very energetic lifestyle and shares what she believes keeps him going every day. “He loves what he does so much and will never retire,” she said. “He’s a workaholic and constantly on the move. I struggle to keep up with his training schedule. He works out three or four times a week — even on tour.”

Lancaster added that she believes their family, especially the younger kids, “give him strength and drive.” Stewart has eight children with five women and three grandchildren. Although he has such a large, unconventional family, it sounds like most of them get along quite well, as he shares family photos on social media from time to time.
Lancaster joked, “He’s not your average 79-year-old man. He can’t sit still and is always on the go. I like to treat myself to a facial or a massage. He can’t do that. He can’t have a massage for more than half an hour; he gets up and leaves.”
