Brooke Shields Auctioning Off Her Iconic Calvin Klein Jeans

Brooke Shields is giving up one of her oldest pieces of memorabilia. The 59-year-old announced that she is auctioning off a pair of the Calvin Klein denim jeans she wore when she was just about 15 years old for their 1980 ad campaign. She has kept the jeans all these years, and while the ad has been considered controversial due to its tagline — “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” — Shields thinks it was all in good fun.

She said, “I had a dog, and I would say, ‘Nothing comes between me and my puppy.’ It was an expression.” She added, “I didn’t think of it as I’m not wearing any underwear.” Whatever your take on the ad is, it doesn’t discount that the 44-year-old jeans are truly iconic. So what’s the reason Shields is finally letting go of them?

She explained, “I am going to be an empty nester! I’m so sad. But now I’m going through all my closets and my things and am ready to give some of my special pieces away, like my Calvin Klein jeans. Can you imagine my waist was ever that small? It’s terrifying! But I hope that somebody enjoys these just as much as I have and finds them as meaningful as I do. I can’t wait for someone to show these off!”

Plus, Shields will still own one pair. Her mom originally kept three pairs from the photoshoot, and one was given to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Even after giving up one pair, she will still have one left, which she said she plans to frame in plexiglass. Shields is also auctioning off her high school cheerleading sweater and her script from The Blue Lagoon, among other items.
