Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider and Dee Dee Sorvino recently wed in a surprise Las Vegas wedding. The two became friends in the midst of grief, as both lost their spouses in recent years. Things soon turned romantic and while they have admitted to having helped each other a lot during the grief process, they said that sometimes they do feel guilty for moving on. Schneider said that he felt more judgmental toward himself than anyone else could have, at first.

Schneider lost his wife Alicia Allain Schneider in 2023, while Sorvino lost her husband Paul Sorvino in 2022. The two initially bonded over their grief but soon found happiness in each other, and a romantic relationship was sparked. Schneider said that he felt “magic” when he first met Sorvino.

Sorvino said, “I think because we did lose our spouses, and we were very happy in those relationships, you can’t help but feel guilt.” Schneider added, “I really actually felt guilty. I felt guilty, it’s like, ‘Whoa, what is this?’ I was more judgmental toward me than maybe anybody else. But what worked ultimately for me is the laughter. It sounds like such a maybe a minor thing, but laughter is so important.”

While they do feel guilt from time to time, the couple believes their late spouses led them to each other. Sorvino revealed, “Paul said, ‘I want you to find love again after me. Please, I’m begging you.’ I said, ‘No way, no how. Not happening.’ But then I did. So I feel like Paul brought John to me. I feel good about it. I felt more grateful.” Schneider chimed in that loving each other doesn’t diminish what they had with their former spouses, and he’s glad to have found love again during a dark time.

While they know people might have their opinions about their relationship and timeline, they are moving forward and feeling good about their newlywed status. They hope to find new adventures and enjoy whatever life will bring them.
