There were over 100 episodes of The Brady Bunch, not to mention the spinoffs, so if you’re a fan of the beloved show, it may be very difficult to pick a favorite episode. Imagine how hard it must be for those who lived them! Barry Williams, who famously played the eldest son Greg Brady on the television series, once shared which episode was his favorite of all time: the season two episode “Our Son, The Man.”

It is not surprising, since Greg is the main star of this one. In the episode, which aired in 1971, Greg is now in high school and feels like he is finally a man and no longer a boy. He must proclaim this fact at least 10 times a day, it seems. He also starts getting irritated with having so many siblings and never getting any privacy. He says he’s too old to go on the family camping trip and wants his own bedroom, much to the annoyance of everyone else.

His parents Carol and Mike finally concede and turn the den into his private bedroom, which he makes into his own ’70s paradise, complete with lava lamps and bead curtains. Williams shared about the episode: “When I was doing The Brady Bunch, the ’50s were real big. In the ’80s, the ’60s thing was big.” He added that the ’70s had a kind of innocence to them, which helps people to remember those days fondly.

“It was so much of what the ’70s was about,” he continued. “It had bead curtains, lava lamps, black-light posters, bell bottoms, fringe vests… and, as I like to recall, me, a white guy with an Afro.”
