Can you imagine attending an event and watching the legendary Paul McCartney walk onstage to perform to surprise the audience? This was the incredible reality for some fans recently at a small venue in the Hamptons. Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, record producer Andrew Watt and legendary guitarist G.E. Smith were performing at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, when McCartney came up on stage for an impromptu performance.

McCartney chose a Beatles classic and the crowd went crazy when he started singing the lines of “I Saw Her Standing There,” written by McCartney and bandmate John Lennon back in the 1960s. Videos from the night show McCartney dressed very casually and seeming very comfortable on stage, laughing with the other artists onstage.

One of the fans at the event, Ryan Sherman of Three Mile Media, was there photographing the event and got some footage of McCartney’s performance. Sherman said that at the end of his performance McCartney “dropped the mic when he finished like a rap battle and walked off. Mind blown. 🤯 one of the coolest things we’ve all ever seen.”

It wasn’t just fans at the event that were thrilled about the performance. Once the videos made their way around social media, people kept talking including other famous artists. “This Is Insane! 👏👏,” wrote Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath. Check out a video below:
