Who Is Still Alive From ‘The Partridge Family?’
The Partridge Family, which followed a group of talented siblings who tour as a family band with their widowed mom, was one of the most beloved shows in the 1970s. Sadly, several of its stars have passed away, including heartthrob David Cassidy (Keith Partridge) who died in 2017 from organ failure and was also Shirley Jones real-life stepson. Dave Madden (their manager Reuben Kincaid) died in 2014 from heart and kidney failure, and Suzanne Crough (Tracy Partridge), who died in 2015 from arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. Let’s find out who is still alive from the show and what they’re up to now.
Shirley Jones (90)
While Jones has continued to act, she is still best known for her role as Shirley Partridge. Prior to The Partridge Family, she was a musical star appearing in Oklahoma! and Carousel, and won an Academy Award for Elmer Gantry. In recent years, she has appeared on the shows Raising Hope, General Hospital, Childrens Hospital. Her most recent role was in a 2021 film called Forgiven This Gun4hire, and has one project in the works called Beyond Legend Johnny Kakota. She just turned 90 this year and shared a sweet celebration with her son Shaun Cassidy.
Susan Dey (71)
Dey was just 17 years old and had very little acting experience when she was cast as Laurie Partridge. The show launched her career, and she went on to appear in L.A. Law, Barnaby Jones, a Little Women miniseries and several TV movies. Her final role was in a 2004 episode of Third Watch, before she retired from acting completely. She now lives a quiet life away from the spotlight and has been the only star to decline to participate in Partridge Family reunions.
Danny Bonaduce (65)
The red-headed star played Danny Partridge and also continued to act after The Partridge Family, appearing in shows such as Married… With Children, Eight is Enough, Fantasy Island and more. He opened up about his struggles with drugs and alcohol in a reality show called Breaking Bonaduce almost 20 years ago. After getting sober, he worked as a radio DJ in Seattle but was forced to retire due to health issues in 2023.
Brian Forster (64)
Forster played the role of Chris after Jeremy Gelbwaks was fired after the first season, reportedly due to not meshing well with the rest of the cast. Forster did not get the acting bug and revealed in a podcast in 2020 that he has since worked as a science teacher, winemaker and even a race car driver since the show ended.
