Oak Ridge Boys Release New Track Featuring Willie Nelson From Upcoming Album
Grammy Award-winning and Country Music Hall of Fame members the Oak Ridge Boys have just announced their upcoming new album, Mama’s Boys, on Lightning Rod/Thirty Tigers Records, which is set for release on Friday, October 25. Ahead of its release, they are giving fans a sneak peek of what’s to come with the first single, “I Thought About You, Lord,” featuring Willie Nelson.
“When David Cobb played, “I Thought About You, Lord”, written by Willie Nelson, I felt I was listening to a masterpiece,” shares Duane Allen. “I thought Willie has recorded with just about everyone but us. So, I called Buddy Cannon, who had recently been producing Willie, to see if Willie would sing his song with us. He replied that he would be honored to sing with the Oaks. When Willie’s vocals were finished, the masterpiece was completed!”
Mama’s Boys, their first album with Ben James singing tenor, is an album with pure, harmonious vocals and heartfelt lyrics that pay tribute to their mothers and mothers everywhere. Recorded at the Historic RCA Studio A and Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, this project is their fifth collaboration with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb. The vocal quartet’s discography thus far comprises of thirty-one studio albums and fifty-six singles.

Oak Ridge Boys Tour Dates
In other news, the Oak Ridge Boys have had a rough year of personal loss, as recently retired longtime member Joe Bonsall passed away in July just weeks after band member William Lee Golden’s son, Rusty Golden died. Not letting this get them down, the boys have been busy working on new music and even completed a video for the first time ever with their 1980s classic hit “Elvira.” Not to mention their farewell tour is still in high gear.
