Great news for fans who thought they they could never see Alex Van Halen in person, after the Van Halen drummer sold all of his equipment in an epic auction and seemingly hung up his drumsticks for good. This October, some lucky fans will be able to meet Alex in person as he heads out on tour to promote his new memoir, Brothers, which will be released on Oct. 22, 2024.

Alex will be hitting three cities to read from his book and discuss life in Van Halen. On Oct. 21, 2024, he will be in New York City, at Barnes & Noble’s Fifth Ave. location. On Oct. 22, he’ll be at Books & Greetings in Northvale, New Jersey, and on Oct. 24, he’ll appear at Robert Frost Auditorium in Culver City, California. Fans can grab tickets to these events at the Van Halen website — and each ticket comes with a copy of the hardcover book.

Brothers was written while Alex was mourning the death of his brother and bandmate Eddie Van Halen, who passed away in 2020 from throat cancer. The book shares personal stories of Alex’s life, including his childhood with Eddie and their careers.

Alex recalled, “I was with him from day one. We shared the experience of coming to this country and figuring out how to fit in. We shared a record player, an 800-square-foot house, a mom and dad, and a work ethic. Later, we shared the back of a tour bus, alcoholism, the experience of becoming famous, of becoming fathers and uncles, and of spending more hours in the studio than I’ve spent doing anything else in this life. We shared a depth of understanding that most people can only hope to achieve in a lifetime.”

The memoir also features never-before-seen photos from the band’s archive and will be available as a hardcover or as an audiobook narrated by Alex. The audiobook version features a previously unreleased song called “Unfinished,” the last song Alex and Eddie wrote together.
