Dreama Denver, author and widow of Bob Denver, is making an appearance at the 2024 Mayberry Days Festival this weekend, Sept. 26-28, in Mount Airy, North Carolina. While Bob is best known for his role in Gilligan’s Island, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, he also appeared in The Andy Griffith Show as Dud Wash. The Mayberry Days Festival happens each year to celebrate the legacy of The Andy Griffith Show, citing its fictional town of Mayberry. Mayberry was based on the town of Mount Airy, which is why it is held there each year.

Dreama is also there to celebrate her new book called Island to Icon: The Many Lives of Bob Denver. In the book, she shares personal memories from her life with Bob and shows fans never-before-seen photos and memorabilia from his life and career. If you’re a fan of Bob and Dreama, it sounds like a must-have.

During the Mayberry Days Festival, Dreama will be on hand to sign copies of any of her books or Gilligan’s Island memorabilia and simply meet the fans. Likely a bittersweet moment for Dreama, as she lost her husband almost 20 years ago, on Sept. 2, 2005.

Dreama shared a statement about her visit and said: “Mayberry Days will be even more fun this year as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of my husband’s classic Gilligan’s Island. The event is a nostalgic journey through the golden age of television, where timeless characters and simple stories continue to bring joy to generations of fans. The fact that Gilligan’s Island is still airing all over the planet 60 years after its 1964 debut proves that not only is the show iconic, but the man who played the title role is also. I wish every single person out there could experience this remarkable step back in time. For Andy Griffith Show lovers who’ve never been, I can’t recommend it highly enough. For those who come every year, I can’t wait to see you again.”
