If you’re a fan of Whitesnake, you know that English singer and songwriter David Coverdale is truly the face of the band. Initially, he was the lead vocalist of the band Deep Purple, but formed Whitesnake in 1977. It started as a blues rock band, but evolved into the hard rock hits you know and love, including “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love.”

While Whitesnake played their farewell tour in 2022, Coverdale has repeatedly said that he will never retire completely. Unfortunately, he has dealt with some health issues that make performing difficult, including vocal issues and back problems. However, he isn’t letting those ailments stop him. Coverdale stays very active on the Instagram account for Whitesnake, sharing throwback photos and memories, as well as connecting with his fans on a daily basis.

What Happened to David Coverdale of Whitesnake?

While many fans love Coverdale as part of Whitesnake, his contributions to Deep Purple cannot be forgotten. In 2016, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the ’70s band. He is also known for his collaborations with guitarist Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin in the ’90s.

Coverdale has expressed interest in a farewell album with Whitesnake, and has even hinted at writing a memoir about his life and extensive career. He has also been working on a live DVD and album to document the band’s farewell tour and give fans a chance to hear their live music whenever they want. The 73-year-old currently lives in Reno, NV, with his wife Cindy, his third wife, who he married in 199; they have one son. In 2007, Coverdale became a US citizen and holds dual citizenship with the UK and US. For years, he lived on a beautiful estate on Lake Tahoe, but has since sold it for $6.8 million.

Of course, before he was with Cindy, he was with Tawny Kitaen, known for being in the Whitesnake music videos “Here I Go Again,” “Is This Love” and “Still of the Night,” and making MTV history. Prior to his marriage to Tawny, he was married to Julia Borkowski and they had a daughter named Jessica.

Before the end of the year, a compilation album called Into the Light: The Solo Albums containing new mixes and remasters of his solo albums is set to be released.
