John Lasell, Best Known for ‘The Twilight Zone’ and ‘Dark Shadows,’ Dies at 95
Actor John Lasell passed away on Oct. 4, 2024, at the age of 95. Lasell was best known for appearing on some of the most popular shows of the 1960s and ’70s, including Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, Flipper, Lassie, Dallas and many more. The news of his death was reported online via an obituary.
Most fans will recognize Lasell as vampire hunter Dr. Peter Guthrie in the ’60s version of Dark Shadows. He also played John Wilkes Booth in a 1961 anthology episode of The Twilight Zone based on the Abraham Lincoln assassination titled “Back There.”
Born on Nov. 6, 1928, he began his career in television in 1960 on the series Armstrong Circle Theatre. Throughout the next two decades, he kept himself busy with roles until his final credit in 1985, in a TV miniseries called A Death in California, also starring Cheryl Ladd and Sam Elliott.
Not much is known about his personal life or his whereabouts during the last several decades, but it was reported that he was married three times in his lifetime. His spouses were Nancy D. Coulter, Patricia Smith (Smith also appeared on The Twilight Zone) and Elinor Gabrielle Hegemann.
