Hundreds of Fans Swarm into Guilford, CT for Sold-Out ‘Gilmore Girls’ Fest This Weekend
What is Gilmore Girls Fest, you ask?
Good question! It is a yearly festival, called the Firelight Event, that is hosted by the Fan Fest Society and celebrates Gilmore Girls fandom. This year, it’s being held in the delightfully scenic small town of Guilford, CT.
With a slew of Gilmore Girls alums in attendance, including Scott Cohen, who played Lorelai’s almost-husband in Season 1 and 2 — an exclusive interview with Cohen will be forthcoming! — as well as Kathleen Wilhoite, Luke’s sister (and the voice of 1990s Saturday morning cartoon character Pepper Ann), among others, and a packed schedule of Gilmore Girls-related events, the weekend is sure to be a blast.
The fest began on Friday with fun reunions for previous attendees, a craft corner, Gilmore Girls Trivia hosted by Scott Cohen, a knit-a-thon, an intro to tap dancing and a craft corner — and that’s just a small handful of the events set up for the day.
Even outside the festival grounds, the entire town is bursting at the seams with fans holding coffee cups and wandering around wearing Luke’s & Chilton t-shirts or clothes/tote bags with more obscure references, like a shirt that says “a film by Kirk.” The town of Guilford is happy to have them, as many residents are fans themselves, even if they’re not attending. The first selectman of Guilford announced in the morning that this is now officially Gilmore Girls weekend in Guilford, so that’s fun.
