‘Bewitched’ Star Erin Murphy Reveals Who Her Favorite Darrin Was

Erin Murphy, the child star who played the young Tabitha Stephens on Bewitched, is opening up about the show during its 60th anniversary. Her character was the child of Samantha and Darrin Stephens. Samantha was played by the late Elizabeth Montgomery while Darrin was played by Dick York and later Dick Sargent. York was replaced after suffering from a serious back injury that forced him to leave the show.
Murphy has now revealed which Darrin she believes was the best, now that she is grown up and both of the men have passed away (York in 1992 and Sargent in 1994). She said, “I will give you a scoop. My entire life I have been so diplomatic because I loved them both. They were wonderful guys. Watching the show, Dick York is a better Darrin.”

Murphy continued, “Dick York was a dad and he had a lot of kids and he was just more paternal. So he was more like a dad. Dick Sargent was a great guy and we were in touch up until he passed away. But I’m going with Dick York on this one.”

Murphy also spoke about watching the show during its 60th anniversary. She has a different view from anyone else since she remembers working on the show but she was just a young child. Now, she is able to see it through a different lens. She added, “It’s so interesting because I grew up on the show, so it’s the only childhood I know, but I feel lucky. I really do. It’s like people love the show. They watched it when they were kids. Their kids watch it now, their grandkids watch it.”
