Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour Set to Make Rare TV Appearance
David Gilmour, best known for being a part of the iconic band Pink Floyd, is currently working on his solo music. In honor of his new album, Luck and Strange, he is making a rare appearance on American television to promote his new songs. He will appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.
This is his first appearance on U.S. TV in eight years, as he last appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2016 to support his album Rattle That Lock. He hasn’t appeared on The Tonight Show since 2008, when he performed the song “On an Island” with David Crosby and Graham Nash.
In addition to his performance on The Tonight Show, he is playing some special shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. At the time of posting, there were still some tickets available for the five shows. If you’re interested in seeing him perform, you might want to get tickets or just tune in to The Tonight Show on Thursday night. Stay tuned, because Gilmour did confirm a tour was in the works for his new album (more on that below!).
Luck and Strange is his fifth solo studio album and features lyrics by his wife, novelist Polly Samson. She said that a lot of the songs are about mortality and aging. It was truly a family affair, as their children helped to contribute vocals, lyrics and played instruments on the album. One song in particular should be very special for Pink Floyd fans, as the song “Luck and Strange” features keyboards recorded by Richard Wright before he died in 2008.
