How the Grinch Stole Christmas! wouldn’t exist if not for a relationship forged during World War II. Theodore Geisel (later known as Dr. Seuss) and animation dynamo Chuck Jones worked together on a series of animated training videos for Warner Bros. during the war. They stayed in touch, and, decades later, Jones approached Seuss about turning one of this books into a cartoon. Though Seuss was initially hesitant, he eventually go on board with animating the Grinch; he and Jones went on to spend two months storyboarding the film before hitting the road to sell the concept to producers. And the rest is Christmas cinema history.
