‘Little House on the Prairie’ Star Melissa Gilbert to Appear on Hallmark’s ‘When Calls the Heart’
Two of the coziest shows of all time are about to come together: Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert is set to make an appearance on the Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart during its 12th season, which premieres on January 5, 2025. Not only is it a great guest appearance for fans of both shows — it’s also a reunion of sorts! When Calls the Heart is executive produced by Michael Landon Jr., son of late Little House on the Prairie star and creator Michael Landon.
Gilbert has confirmed that she will be playing the character Georgie McGill, who has “a surprising past with one special Hope Valley resident.” She will appear in a two-episode arc in the upcoming season.

Kelly Garrett, vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, shared that both shows are “charming and compelling stories of hope, human connection and frontier survival,” adding, “It was only fitting that the first people to hear this special news were the Hearties — devoted fans who have celebrated the show year after year and made it such a success. The energy being here with them to share this news is electric, and we cannot wait for them to meet Georgie next year.”
When Calls the Heart is available to stream on Hallmark+ while Little House on the Prairie is available on Amazon Prime.
