‘Brady Bunch’ Star Maureen McCormick Would Only Do a Reboot If This Happened
Maureen McCormick, who played oldest sister Marcia Brady on five seasons of The Brady Bunch, revealed the only way she’d consider participating in a reboot of the series: it would have to “knock [her] socks off.”
“It’s so hard to do a reboot or a remake of something,” the star told People Magazine. “So I feel very protective of it in a way. It has such great memories for so many people, but it would just have to absolutely knock my socks off for me to want to do anything with it. I would know in my heart.”
But while McCormick would only agree to a reboot under the right circumstances, she has incredibly warm memories of the original series. “It was such an incredible show to be a part of,” she said. “And my best memories of the show are the people, the crew, and their families.”
Though McCormick said “I don’t know” regarding rumors of a potential reboot, one revival of the series has already been planned and then cancelled. After the success of 2019’s HGTV series A Very Brady Renovation, which reunited all six Brady kids on screen, a reboot was planned that would catch up with the Brady siblings today, and draw from each actor’s real personality to update the characters. However, development of the series ended after CBS became aware that Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady, had made repeated controversial remarks online through the years. Though Olsen said she remained in touch with her TV siblings, she admitted that the cancellation of the reboot damaged her relationship with Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady. “I think she feels betrayed,” Olsen said.
