Richard Perry, Music Producer Who Worked With Beatles & Rod Stewart, Dies at 82
Iconic music producer Richard Perry has passed away at the age of 82 after suffering from cardiac arrest. His friend Daphna Kastner confirmed the sad news and said, “He maximized his time here. He was generous, fun, sweet, and made the world a better place. The world is a little less sweet without him here, but it’s a little sweeter in heaven.”
Singer Rod Stewart also expressed his condolences. The two worked together many times and became close friends. Stewart said, in part, “They say in life a man is lucky if he can count his true friends on one hand, and you were certainly one of them,” adding that Perry even encouraged his relationship with his now-wife, Penny.
Stewart and Perry collaborated on many projects, including The Great American Songbook series. Perry, who also helped produce Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” and Ringo Starr’s album Ringo, worked with artists such as the Beatles, Barbra Streisand and many more. Streisand shared a special tribute, detailing their time together working on two albums, Stoney End and Barbra Joan Streisand, alongside a throwback photo.

In addition to his success, he also drew attention for dating famous faces. Over the years, he was linked to stars such as Jane Fonda and Elizabeth Taylor. He most recently dated Fonda, but they split in 2017.
Unfortunately, it was said that he was also battling Parkinson’s disease in his later years and was unable to work. Even so, he certainly left behind an impressive musical legacy as evident by his work and the tributes from stars who worked with him.
