Boy George is Returning to ‘Moulin Rouge!’ Who Will He Play?

Boy George of Culture Club fame is gearing up to return to the cast of the famous Broadway production Moulin Rouge! this year. He will reprise his role as Harold Zidler, which he previously played from February to March 2024. This time, he will play the role beginning March 18, 2025, through May 25, with some Tuesday evening performances being played by an alternate performer who has yet to be announced.

Moulin Rouge! is a popular Broadway production and film that follows a young writer named Christian who falls for Satine, the star of the infamous Moulin Rouge nightclub in Paris. Moulin Rouge! The Musical opened on July 25, 2019, and has featured some impressive talents.

This isn’t the first Broadway show that Boy George has appeared in. He previously starred as Leigh Bowery in 2003’s Taboo and also wrote the Tony Award-nominated score for the show. He is also famous for being the lead singer of the 1980s band Culture Club before starting his solo career.

The current role of Zidler is being played by Robert Petkoff, who is temporarily taking over for Austin Durant. In addition, the current cast includes Solea Pfeiffer as Satine, John Cardoza as Christian, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as the Duke of Monroth, Pepe Muñoz as Santiago and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini.
