It has been almost a decade since the Sinatra family lost one of their own. Frank Sinatra Jr. passed away unexpectedly of cardiac arrest while on tour at the age of 72 on March 16, 2016. On his birthday, January 10, his sister Nancy recalled happier times with her brother and shared a very sweet message to him, alongside some special throwback photos of herself and Frank over the years.

“Remembering my brother, Frank Sinatra, Jr., on his birthday,” she wrote. “Frankie was a brilliant man and a gifted musician who never received the credit he deserved, but we loved him and were so proud of him.”

“Happy heavenly birthday, Frankie,” she continued. “I miss you so much, but I’m celebrating you today. I feel so blessed that you were part of my life — my brother and my close friend. Nothing can ever fill the gap you left but your love and laughter still fills my heart, and your memory is a treasure that I will hold close for the rest of my days. Until we meet again.”

Frank followed in his father Frank Sinatra‘s footsteps to create a successful music career. Although he lived a privileged life, he was bizarrely kidnapped at age 19 and held for ransom until his father paid the exorbitant $240,000 fee (equivalent to $2,390,000 in 2023). Barry Keenan, Johnny Irwin and Joe Amsler were soon captured and prosecuted for kidnapping.

Luckily, he was saved and continued on with his career, performing at local clubs and eventually moving on to larger venues. His final album, That Face!, was released in 2006.
