Willie Nelson Wishes He Did One Thing Differently With Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson may seem like an unlikely pair. Sinatra was a crooner known for hanging out in Las Vegas with his Rat Pack buddies and a stiff drink. Nelson, on the other hand, is more synonymous with country music, Texas and marijuana. Even so, the two crossed paths a few times and had several live collaborations, as Sinatra opened for Nelson at the Golden Nugget Casino. Since Sinatra died in 1998, the now 91-year-old Nelson has some regrets.
Nelson recently opened up about how much he admired Sinatra and his talents. He shared, “Practically everything he’s recorded, I’ve loved it. I’m a huge Sinatra fan.” He reminded fans that he has done several covers of Sinatra’s most famous songs, including “My Way” and “That’s Life.”
Nelson then explained his regret, sharing, “One night we played a show in Vegas, and he invited me by his place to hang out, and I couldn’t. I had to get on a bus and go to LA, and I always regretted that I didn’t get to hang out with Frank.”
Nelson didn’t explain any further why the duo didn’t get a chance to hang out again, but it is clear that he wishes he spent more time with the star before his death. It just goes to show that you always feel like you have more time than you do to be with the ones you love and admire.
