Back to the Future star Lea Thompson is having a wonderful time in the present: She just announced on Instagram that she welcomed her first grandchild, a girl named Robbie June Carlisle. Robbie is the daughter of Thompson’s daughter, Maddie Deutch, with her husband, Zach Carlisle.
Thompson, who previously starred in Caroline in the City and currently appears in the Hallmark series The Chicken Sisters, was radiating joy as she shared several photos of the newborn with the caption: “Welcome to this crazy beautiful world little girl. Robbie June Carlisle! I’m a grandmother friends! Such joy and happiness is singing in my heart. I am so grateful and proud of Maddie and Zach for having the faith and grace to take a chance on love. ❤️ Howie Zoey and I are over the moon in love. Congratulations Maddie! My baby is a mama …”

Maddie shared her own series of photos and wrote, “Robbie June Carlisle, 2.2.25 Our rainbow girl. We are so grateful to this magical being—and to our friends and family—for swaddling the three of us in so much unending love.” She credited her sister, Zoey Deutch, with taking the photos.

Maddie and Zoey are the daughters of Thompson and her husband, film director Howard Deutch. The two met on the set of the 1987 film Some Kind of Wonderful and wed in 1989. Both of their daughters followed in their mother’s footsteps and became actresses.
Maddie is best known for The Year of Spectacular Men and the series Outcast, while Zoey is in Set It Up, Not Okay and the most recent Clint Eastwood film, Juror No. 2.
