Chris Candy, son of the late John Candy, had the very special honor of appearing in a Super Bowl ad this year. Diehard fans noticed that he appeared during the Dunkin’ Super Bowl ad directed by and starring actor and Dunkin’ fan Ben Affleck. In the full-length ad, Candy plays a member of a rival coffee brand who wears a rubber hamburger on his head and scuffles with Affleck and his brother, Casey.

Chris opened up about how he believes his dad would feel about seeing him in the big ad. He said that his dad would have been “immensely proud and blown away by his part” in the star-studded ad, also featuring Bill Belichick, Casey Affleck, Jeremy Strong and plenty of others, since he was such a huge football fan. The late star even co-owned the Toronto Argonauts.

Chris added that when he booked the gig, he didn’t even know it was a Super Bowl commercial. The production kept getting delayed by the wildfires, and when it was finally time to film, Chris was shocked at how many stars were there.

The full ad is almost seven minutes long, so it took a while to film. During breaks, Chris said he was able to meet Ben and thank him for the opportunity. Then, word got around that he was John Candy’s son, and everyone wanted to share just how much his father’s comedy meant to them.

He added that the two-day shoot suddenly felt like “summer camp” and is a memory he will treasure forever. Check out the full ad below:
