‘Moonlighting’ Stars Reunite on Podcast to Celebrate 40th Anniversary

This year, the series Moonlighting celebrates its 40th anniversary. The show, starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd, ran from 1985 to 1989 on ABC. Willis starred as David Addison, a detective who convinces Shepherd’s Madelyn “Maddie” Hayes, a former model, to keep running a detective agency she owns as a tax write-off. The two spark a partnership running the agency Blue Moon and eventually form a romantic relationship. In honor of the big anniversary, the Moonlighting podcast held a special Zoom event featuring several stars from the show.
Unfortunately, Willis was not in attendance due to his ongoing health issues, but several stars, writers, cast and crew including Shepherd, Glenn Gordon Caron, Ron Osborn, Jeff Reno, Scott Ryan and Melissa Gelineau all joined the Zoom on March 1, 2025. The podcast, hosted by Grace Chivell and Shawna Saari, discusses each episode in detail including the stars and production.

During the 40th anniversary Zoom event, fans were encouraged to dress up as their favorite character for the show to pay homage to the ’80s classic. It was supposed to be two hours but ended up being expanded into four hours because there was just so much to discuss!
To continue the celebration, the podcast hosts ask fans to rewatch the pilot episode on Hulu, which first aired on March 3, 1985. In addition, the hosts have released a special Moonlighting Trivia & Puzzle Book featuring exclusive trivia about the episodes and even behind-the-scenes facts. It also has different puzzles and fun facts about the show from the ultimate fans.

ABC/Everett Collection
All five seasons of the seasons are available to stream on Hulu. The podcast episode will be released in a couple of weeks in parts and will eventually be uploaded to YouTube. Will you be rewatching the pilot episode or do you remember watching it when it was live in the 1980s?
