Porky Pig & Daffy Duck Are Blowing Up the World in ‘The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie’

There are so many fun and entertaining Looney Tunes characters. From Bugs Bunny to Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd or Sylvester and Tweety, it might be hard to pick a favorite. However, one of the most popular characters is Porky Pig. Fans were delighted to see him return for a new Looney Tunes film called The Day the Earth Blew Up. Sadly, it doesn’t feature any bigger known Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, or any of the other characters but it does give Porky a love interest in veteran character Petunia Pig.
While Looney Tunes films have been around for almost a century, it hasn’t been easy in recent years for the company. Space Jam: A New Legacy wasn’t as popular as the studio had hoped and Coyote vs. Acme was never released due to tax reasons. They hope to change all that with the new film, which is the first fully animated Looney Tunes feature-length film to be released in theaters.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie gives the characters you know and love a modern update in hopes of reaching new audiences while still pleasing the old fans. The film focuses on best pals Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, both voiced by Eric Bauza in the new movie, and gives a look into their origin stories and where they are now. Their home is in disarray and they are in danger of losing it, so they get a job at a nearby gum factory. Of course, with any Looney Tunes film, chaos ensues and things don’t always go according to plan.

The film follows the premise of classic B-movies from the ’50s with parodies of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Thing, mad scientists in lab coats, and more. It is being distributed by Ketchup Entertainment and is the first Looney Tunes movie not distributed by Warner Bros. The film has been getting rave reviews. Hollywood Reporter says, “A consistent pleasure that should delight youngsters as well as nostalgic adults.” It sounds like a winner for the whole family, no matter how familiar you are with the characters.
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie is out in theaters now.
