Scott Foley Talks ‘Will Trent’ Gig, ‘Scream’ Resurrection & Possible ‘Felicity’ Reboot

Scott Foley is a busy man. He’s starring in the new season of Will Trent, he’s making an unlikely reappearance in the Scream film franchise, he’s fielding Felicity reboot questions… and he’s even doing a “middle-aged man weekly polar plunge.”
“We moved to Connecticut during the pandemic, and it was tough to make friends, and I’ve actually made some now, and I think to keep them … I have to jump in this freezing water,” Foley quipped on Good Morning America on Friday.
As for Will Trent, Foley is appearing in the ABC show’s third season in the role of Seth McDale, who’s “a doctor on a detective show,” the actor explained.
“This is a great show,” he added. “I’m so excited to join it. I get to play across some amazing actors. Erika Christensen plays my love interest. I play her love interest in this. And we have a great time. It’s a good gig.”
And regarding his appearance in the forthcoming Scream 7, he joked that he’s “willing to take a poll” on the GMA set so that someone could explain his return to the horror film franchise.
“My character, I was the — spoiler alert, 25 years ago — I was the killer in Scream 3, and he was brutally taken to town and killed, and now, I’m back in Scream 7, and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.”
But rejoining his former Scream colleagues was “the best,” Foley said. “It’s so much fun, and I got to see Neve [Campbell] again and David Arquette again, and Kevin Williamson — who wrote the first one and put me in Dawson’s Creek, which was the first TV show he did years ago — he’s directing this one. And we had so much fun being on set. It was just great to be around people you love and know.”

Speaking of teaming up with old friends, GMA host Michael Strahan asked the actor about the possibility of a reboot of Felicity, the WB college drama Foley starred in with Keri Russell and Scott Speedman.
“Yeah, of course, I’d do it,” Foley responded. “My question to you, Michael, is, I’m going to be 53 this year. I feel like the Felicity reboot window may have passed … It’s Cocoon Felicity? I mean, I feel like I’m Wilford Brimley’s age when he did Cocoon. Listen, if they’ll watch, I’m all for it. … Keri Russell is undoubtedly a true talent, a true beauty, one of the best there is.”
