After providing the winning bid to purchase and own the iconic The Brady Bunch house — one of the most recognizable homes in the country (second only to the White House!) — philanthropist Tina Trahan has been putting her money where her mouth is. The Illinois native, along with some of the actual Brady kids, have found a way to give back and benefit those in need.

On impulse, Trahan purchased the Brady house, near the Burbank Media District in southern California, one and a half years ago for $3.2 million. “It’s like a life-size doll house,” she explained during a rare appearance on the Today Show. “You walk into your childhood when you walk into that house!” The 5,000+ square foot home built in 1959 contains five bedrooms, five bathrooms and sits on a 12,250 square foot lot, which is currently valued at almost $4 million (increasing in value by almost $65,000 since the prior year). In 2024, the property taxes alone were a whopping $39,139.71.

The grounds surrounding the Brady House are kept in pristine condition, and there’s even a station wagon, much like the one Mrs. Brady used to drive, sitting curbside, adding more nostalgia to the beloved home and neighborhood.

The savvy investor, who attended Illinois State University and is married to media exec and former CEO of HBO Chris Albrecht, uses much of her good fortune to help others. With the purchase of the Brady home, Trahan developed The Brady Experience, a charitable sweepstakes site. A portion of each sweepstakes ticket sold benefits No Kid Hungry, a national campaign to end U.S. childhood hunger. Sweepstakes winners get an all-expenses paid trip to visit the famous home — and get to share a meal with cast members of the show inside the house. So far, five lucky winners have gotten the opportunity.

Many of the Brady kids were game to get involved with Trahan’s endeavor, including Barry Williams, a.k.a. Greg Brady. “It was about, what was the person buying the house going to do with it? We are very pleased with what [Tina] is doing!” he mentioned on Today.  Christopher Knight, who played Peter Brady, added, “What is so magical about this house now is [Tina is providing] an opportunity for fans to actually see the inside.”  Together, the two  donned sequined jackets and Christmas sweaters for videos to help promote The Brady Experience online, including a bit with Williams stealing Knight’s infamous line, “Come join us for pork chops and applesauce!”

The Brady Experience website also offers several items for purchase, including prints, coasters, puzzles and playing cards. Anne Filipic, CEO of Share Our Strength, the organization behind the No Kid Hungry charity, recently said, “We’re so grateful to The Brady Bunch cast and fans entering this special sweepstakes for helping to ensure kids have access to the food they need to thrive.”

Trahan has also jumped in and preserved other historic dwellings, like Stone Manor in Lake Geneva. More recently, as a former resident of Pacific Palisades, she reached out to help those who evacuated from her former neighborhood during the L.A. fires. In January, she announced via Facebook, “I have two families of five and all of their pets in my house; I’m so grateful to be able to help others.”
