Charo Honors the Late George Foreman in Instagram Post: ‘He Was a Fabulous Human Being’

Charo, a longtime staple in Las Vegas entertainment known for her amazing flamenco guitar skills and spicy catchphrase “cuchi-cuchi,” recently shared a sweet memory of the late George Foreman. Foreman, a world-famous heavyweight boxing champ and Olympic gold medalist who later pivoted to running his own businesses, died on March 21, 2025, at the age of 76. Charo posted a photo they took in her dressing room at Caesar’s Palace in 1988 on Instagram, and shared some kind words about him.
She wrote, “Hola amigos. I want to share with you a happy momento in my dressing room in Caesar’s Palace. After my show, the one and only GEORGE FOREMAN, champion of the world, came to say hello. It was a great honor that I never forget. He was a fabulous human being and great great and very kind man. We will all miss him very much and remember him forever! Rest in peace with God. I love you all very much, besos.” Fans of both stars were thankful for the post in the comments, loving the rare photo and story. While Charo was known for playing in Vegas, she also appeared on beloved shows like Fantasy Island and The Love Boat.

While Foreman started his career as a boxer in the late ’60s, it wasn’t long before he became a heavyweight champion, with his first and most notorious loss coming when he lost the title to Muhammad Ali in the “Rumble in the Jungle.” After he retired from boxing for good in 1997 with 76 wins and only five losses, he focused on selling his portable George Foreman Grill, which he launched a few years prior in 1994; he went on to sell over 100 million grills.
The cause of his death is currently unknown but his family released a statement on Instagram, sharing that he “peacefully departed on March 21, 2025.” They added, “Our hearts are broken. A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose. A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two-time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected — a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name — for his family. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.”
Foreman was married five times and had 12 children, including five sons who were all famously named George Edward Foreman. He is survived by 11 of his children and his last wife, Mary Joan Martelly.
