Betty White Gets Her Wish to Be Immortalized on a Postage Stamp

It’s official – the Betty White stamp has made its debut and is now in circulation and can be purchased at US Post Offices online or in person. ReMIND was there to get all the details surrounding getting your own stamp, as this is a big deal, people!
“She always wanted a stamp. The only thing she ever talked about was the United States stamp. She always wanted to be on an envelope,” Betty’s agent Jeff Witjas told ReMIND. “It’s a wonderful day for all of us to remember her. I think about her every day. It’s nice to have these stamps around forever. They are Forever stamps, which is even better. It’s a nice tribute to Betty.”
On March 27, 2025, the United States Postal Service hosted the first-day-of-issue event for the new Betty White Forever stamp at the Allen Ludden Plaza inside the Los Angeles Zoo. ReMIND exclusively interviewed both her personal assistant, Kiersten Mikelas, and her talent agent, Witjas.

“Ah, I’m so excited for today. I was just saying we used to tease her all the time that she needed to be on a postage stamp or the $20 bill or something,” Mikelas told ReMIND. “And I think she would actually be tickled with the image, with everything. The fact that it’s here at the zoo just makes it really special.”
The event began with the color guard presenting the American and California flags, while recording artist Ellis Hall sang “America the Beautiful.” Danny Romero, a local KABC-TV meteorologist, took the stage as the event’s emcee. Denise Verret, the chief executive officer and director of the Los Angeles Zoo, greeted the crowd, followed by dedication remarks from Amber F. McReynolds, chairwoman of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors. Jacqueline Hamilton, a longtime staffer of Rep. Karen Bass, presented two proclamations — one to the USPS and the other to the Betty White Estate.
The unveiling of the stamp was followed by a heartfelt performance of “Thank You for Being a Friend” by Hall. Final remarks were delivered by Richard Lichtenstein, a member of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, and Dale Stephanos, the artist behind the stamp’s design.

“I’m really, really grateful to be included and just happy that she’s still being recognized, and that people seem genuinely thrilled that they have the opportunity now to buy the stamps and keep her memory alive. I think we all need positivity in the world, especially now, and seeing her — the little glint in her eye and the smile on the stamp — brings a little bit of that,” Mikelas shared. “Oh gosh, I miss her every day. There’s something that happens at least once a day where I smile. I carry with me her positivity and her belief that there’s always a silver lining. People always ask about her, and they say she seemed so nice. I always love telling them that she was even nicer than they thought — she was even better.”

The Betty White stamp features a digitally created portrait of the cherished star against a violet-colored background. In a lighter shade, bubbly spots complement her sparkling personality. She is depicted wearing a polka-dotted blue top. “Betty White” is printed in white near the bottom of the stamp artwork, with “FOREVER USA” just below, in violet. Her name also appears in violet, centered atop the white selvage.
“For everybody who writes letters — because that’s what Betty did a lot — anytime a fan would send her a letter, she always responded,” Witjas added with a smile. “With all the stamps featuring Betty, she’s going to make the Post Office a lot of money.”
The Betty White Forever stamp will be available in panes of 20. As Forever stamps, they will always hold the value of the current first-class mail 1-ounce price.
