During the recent 90s Con event, several of the cast members of Disney Channel’s Halloweentown film reunited to share fun stories about the beloved Halloween film, including stories about their time with the late Debbie Reynolds, who starred in the film as Aggie Cromwell. Kimberly J. Brown, Daniel Kountz and Judith Hoag came together to answer fan questions.

Brown shared that she was inspired by her time with Reynolds to start a short-lived Halloween tradition. She explained, according to People, “Debbie over the years, early on, gave me the idea to give out candy on Halloween dressed in my Marnie costume because she had given out candy in her Aggie look. I did that for a couple of years and got just so much joy out of surprising people at the door,” adding that she unfortunately had to stop once people were showing up to her home year-round. Brown also said that she had the cloak because it was made for her, and Reynolds advocated to producers to let her keep it and take it home.

Hoag was also inspired by Reynolds, who said she would always stand in for herself while filming because Bette Davis taught her that. Hoag shared that now she often stands in for herself in tribute to both of the leading ladies and admitted that she actually signed on to do the film just because Reynolds was involved.

The rest of the cast adored Reynolds as well, who passed away in December 2016 at age 84. Kountz, Brown’s costar in the film and eventual real-life husband, added that Reynolds had “more energy than anybody,” and would often sing songs and tell stories to the cast during breaks.
