Country Music Hall of Fame to Open Dolly Parton Exhibition

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is opening up a new exhibition in honor of one of country music’s most beloved stars: Dolly Parton. “Dolly Parton: Journey of a Seeker,” opening on May 20, 2025, will showcase fabulous outfits, awards, handwritten lyrics and much more from the singer-songwriter’s 60-plus year career.
“Being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame was one of the greatest moments of my life, and being able to have a personal exhibit for the fans that put me there is a very big deal to me,” said Parton. “This seeker is very proud and honored, and I hope you enjoy my journey. I will always love you.”

Among the exhibits highlights are the handwritten first draft lyrics to “Jolene,” a custom banjo she used for several performances, a cowgirl outfit Parton wore in the film 9 to 5, and even a Sony portable cassette tape recorder she used to write several of her biggest hits, including “I Will Always Love You.”
The exhibit also focuses on Parton’s tenacity, telling the story of how despite her poor upbringing, she never let go of her dreams of becoming a singer and performer. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut at just 13 years old, and went on to have an amazing career, follow her own ambitions even when those around her failed to support them. In addition to being a musician and actress, she also founded the Imagination Library and Dollywood theme park.

Fans can enter the exhibit with general museum admission, but a limited number of timed tickets are sold for the exhibit each day. It will be open from May 20 until Sept. 2026, so there is plenty of time to plan your visit; the museum recommends purchasing tickets ahead of time, especially for opening days.
For huge Parton fans, an illustrated and in-depth exhibit companion book will be available for purchase to supplement the exhibit; it is available both online and at the museum’s store. There will also be an official exhibit playlist available on all major streaming platforms.
