David Cassidy, best known for his role as Keith Partridge alongside his real-life stepmother Shirley Jones on The Partridge Family, died almost a decade ago on November 21, 2017, at the age of 67. He left behind a loving and equally famous family, and his half-brother, Shaun Cassidy, shared a sweet throwback photo and story to celebrate David’s 75th birthday on April 12.

Alongside a photo of himself, David and Shirley, he wrote, “When David came to visit us on the weekends, my mother always made it a priority to celebrate him. She knew how difficult it was for a kid to be shuttled back and forth between two households, and she never wanted David to feel like he was a guest or a ‘half-brother’ in our home.”

He continued, “There were no better nights than when David came to sleep over, and no better mornings than those spent walking around Westwood, dining at ‘Ships’ coffee shop, and then riding the ponies at Beverly Park. Before my younger brothers were born, these were the happiest days of my childhood because I got to share them with my big brother, Dave. God, I miss him. Happy Birthday pal. #DavidCassidy”

This isn’t the first time Shaun has opened up about his time with David. When David passed away in 2017, Shaun shared a photo of the two of them as young boys and recalled the times David would come to visit. He shared on X that “the first call of business would be a punishing pillow fight” and added that David would tell him funny stories about their father.

He added, “Now, I will carry him, along with all of the funny/sad/extraordinary days we shared, none more filled with love than these last few at his side.”
