Who’s Still Alive From ‘Bewitched’?

Bewitched was much more than just one of the most popular TV shows of the 1960s. The sitcom — which chronicled the adventures of whimsical witch Samatha Stephens (Elizabeth Montgomery), her mortal husband Darren (Dick Sargent and Dick York), and their attempts to have a normal suburban life, despite the best efforts of her pushy witch mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead) and Darren’s suspicious boss Larry Tate (David White) — ran for eight seasons on ABC, but has aired for decades in re-runs, continuing to charm viewers and mint new fans to this day.
Given that Bewitched is a part of the lives of almost any TV fan (especially TV fans who’ve logged a lot of hours with Nick at Nite), it’s natural to wonder if any of the cast is still with us. Unfortunately, most of the actors who made Bewitched so magical have passed. Montgomery passed in 1995 due to colon cancer, York died in 1992 due to complications from emphysema, Sargent died from prostate cancer in 1994, White died of a heart attack in 1990, and Moorehead died in 1974 from uterine cancer — she was one of many actors to develop cancer due to exposure to radioactive fallout while making the 1956 film The Conqueror. Bernard Fox, who played Dr. Bombay, passed in 2016 from heart failure, at the age of 89.
But there’s some good news: a few cast members are still with us!

Murphy, who played young Tabitha in six seasons of the show (a role shared with her twin sister, Diane, when they were small), has gone on to do a wide array of things since the series ended in 1972. From performing as actress Virginia Madsen‘s stunt double to working as a casting director and acting teacher, Murphy has stayed busy, on and off-camera. She’s appeared as an on-air correspondent for channels like TVLand and E!, and as a celebrity judge on the Danny Bonaduce reality show I Know My Kid’s A Star. She’s also appeared as a contestant on a number of celebrity reality shows, including RuPaul’s Drag U and Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling.
In her personal life, Murphy owns the small business Slim Chillers, which makes low-cal cocktail popsicles, as well as an eco-friendly knitwear company called Erin Murphy Knits, and is the mom to six (!) kids.

In season six, the Stephens family welcomed second baby Adam (a plotline that lined up with Montgomery’s real-life pregnancy and the birth of her third child). Brothers David and Greg played Adam (though only David’s name was shown in the credits); supposedly, they were hired because they had eyebrows quite similar to Elizabeth Montgomery’s.
Though the brothers retired from acting shortly after the show ended, they did appear on an episode of Vicki!, Vicki Lawrence’s daytime talk show, in 1992. In the episode, the brothers, who were raised by adoptive parents, said that they had discovered that their birth parents were actor Tony Curtis and model Peggy Potter (Curtis never acknowledged paternity). They also began using the last name “Mandel.”
