The Monkees’ Micky Dolenz Joins TikTok
If you’re on TikTok, expect to see a new famous face: The Monkees singer and drummer Micky Dolenz announced on Instagram and TikTok that he has joined the famous video app, and shared his official account name, noting any other accounts claiming to be him are fake. He joked in the caption of the video announcement, “Well… I’ve done it. I’ve officially joined TikTok. Because apparently, the world needs to see me attempt viral dance moves and lip syncs I barely understand. 🙄🕺”

The 80-year-old has started his TikTok journey by promoting his latest tour and sharing clips from his recent performances, which include some classics like “I’m a Believer.” His current tour runs through May and takes him around the country to cities including Pittsburgh and Ocean City, Maryland; the second leg of his 2025 tour will pick up in August.
Dolenz is now the last surviving member of the Monkees and aims to keep their legacy alive through performing; he plays not just Monkees’ hits but continually releases new music of his own. In 2021, he released a solo album called Dolenz Sings Nesmith, featuring songs written by Monkees costar Mike Nesmith, who sadly passed away later that year on December 10, 2021. In 2023, Dolenz released an EP full of R.E.M cover songs.
