Singer Barry Manilow, singer of hits such as “Copacabana,” “Mandy,” and “Looks Like We Made It,” is celebrating a very special milestone today. He is turning 80 years old, today, June 17, 2023, but he doesn’t have any plans to celebrate, although he admitted that “by accident” he will be onstage performing during his incredible Las Vegas residency on his birthday.

Of course, his friends, family, and fans all want to celebrate his 80th birthday but he admitted that he turned everyone down! He said,  “I don’t like my birthdays anyway. They just scare me. This one … I don’t know what to expect. I don’t. This is a big number, and I never thought I’d get this far. I never thought I’d reach this. My family all died in their early 70s, so I have a blank slate. I don’t know what is about to hit me.”

Manilow added that this particular birthday is both exciting and terrifying. Manilow should definitely at least appreciate his impressive career and talent that has helped him sell over 85 million records worldwide throughout the decades. Everyone knows his iconic voice and he’s become one of the world’s bestselling artists of all time.

It isn’t just that fans love his music but his songwriting abilities have earned him a spot in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, two Emmys, a Grammy, and a Tony. He continues to tour around the world when he isn’t performing live in Vegas and is getting ready for his original musical Harmony to find its place on Broadway. Harmony tells the true story of an ensemble of six men in the 1920s who called themselves the Comedian Harmonists. Based on the book and lyrics by Bruce Sussman, Manilow created the music for the show. The play has been around for years and it is exciting to see it finally make its way to Broadway.
