The Couples in Hollywood that Prove True Love Exists

Sarah Jessica Parker recently revealed that she had her first official date with now-husband Matthew Broderick on March 8, 1992, and they have never spent a night apart since. For 31 years, the couple has stayed together through grueling work schedules, three children, and the general stress of life, and their marriage is still going strong. They dated for five years before getting married and eventually welcomed their three kids, 20-year-old James and 13-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion.

She added about their ongoing happiness together, “I feel like it changes. Your needs are shifting. You and your partner are going to change. It seems so silly, but I think you’re very lucky if you like the person. I still just really like him. I’m sure I annoy him and he annoys me, but I literally learn about him every day. I’m like, ‘You’re doing what? You’re reading what?’”

Parker and Broderick aren’t the only Hollywood couple to stay together for many decades, although they seem to be few and far between. One famous couple that has been married for over 30 years and seems still happy is Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. While they met on the set of Hanks’ show Bosom Buddies, he was married to Samantha Lewes at the time, so there wasn’t a romantic connection at first.

They reconnected when they were both single and got married in 1998. Hanks has talked about their marriage success, saying they stick it out with each other no matter what happens. He admits that marriage isn’t the way it’s shown in the movies but it is loving in a real way, not a fantasy. Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest have been married for almost 40 years and they prove that opposites attract. Curtis shared that they have very different interests, don’t go to bed at the same time, don’t listen to the same music… but it works for them. One thing they do have in common is a love for history, traveling, and their two children, who have kept them busy over the years.

Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are another pair of actors who have been together for a long time. The Cheers star once said, “I want as long as possible in my life with Mary. I know it will have all of its hard parts but I want to experience love in all those moments.” She added that she “would sign up for 100 more lifetimes” with Danson. So sweet! While many Hollywood couples stay married, some never wed but stay together for a long time. One case is Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. They have been together for over 40 years and have combined their lives in every way possible. So, many fans question why they never made it to the altar.

Hawn has explained that they feel devoted to each other and they don’t need a marriage certificate to prove anything to anyone. She added that it gives them a choice every day to continue to be together, and so far, they have chosen to live their lives together with their blended family. Before any of these couples came onto the scene, there was the original Hollywood It couple: Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

They were married for 50 years until Newman passed away in 2008. While Newman is considered by many to be a sex symbol, he reportedly credited his wife for that persona because of their sexual chemistry. While they of course, that their ups and downs, they had that spark that never fizzled out.
