Amazing Artists Honor the Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd With New Album of Covers

Artimus Pyle assembled an impressive team of artists to pay tribute to his iconic band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Pyle is the former drummer and “wild man” of the band and helped them to stand out from the crowd. He replaced original drummer Bob Burns after the release of the band’s second album after meeting Ronnie Van Zant and Ed King at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. He performed with Lynyrd Skynyrd on four albums and was one of the survivors of the horrible plane crash that killed bandmates Van Zant as well as Steve and Cassie Gaines.
To honor his former bandmates who were lost far too soon 45 years ago, he has been working on a new album featuring some other amazing artists. The album, titled, Anthems – Honoring The Music Of Lynyrd Skynyrd, has 13 tracks that will be released on Feb. 2, 2024. One of the tracks will be released digitally on October 20th, which marks the anniversary of the tragic plane crash.

The album features not only Pyle but also Michael Ray, Ronnie Dunn, Sammy Hagar, Lindsey Ell, Chris Janson, Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann, Marty Raybon, Billy Ray Cyrus, Warren Haynes, LOCASH, and Dolly Parton. The album will contain some of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s most popular songs including “Simple Man, “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Freebird.”
Len Snow, Get Joe Records president who worked with Pyle for the album said, “This project has been a year in the making, but when the fans hear it they will understand why it took so long. Artimus is legendary within the Southern Rock space. The music that Lynyrd Skynyrd made will always live as a part of rock history. This album honors that music and gives Artimus a way to honor his former bandmates.”
