All of the Cult-Classic ‘Leprechaun’ Movies are on Hulu for 30th Anniversary
If you’re ready to snuggle up and watch a creepy movie for Halloween this weekend to celebrate the beginning of October, Hulu has got you covered. Since the original Leprechaun movie, starring Jennifer Aniston in her film debut, is turning 30 years old this year, Hulu is set to release all eight of the films on October 1. Warwick Davis plays a murderous leprechaun in the cult-classic series, originally appearing in theaters in 1993.
Warwick returned for several sequels including Leprechaun 2 (1994), Leprechaun 3 (1995), Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997), Leprechaun in the Hood (2000), and Leprechaun: Back 2 the Hood (2003). Later on, Dylan Postl and Linden Porco took over the role for the reboot films Leprechaun: Origins (2014) and Leprechaun Returns (2018).
Leprechaun initially received some bad reviews but overall had commercial success, earning a domestic gross of $8.6 million with a budget of only $1 million. The comedy horror film follows a vengeful leprechaun who hunts a family that he believes has stolen his pot of gold. The family tries to find the gold in order to make him go away, ultimately learning that the only way to truly get rid of him is to find a four-leaf clover.
It was intended to be a straight horror movie but Davis added a ton of humor into the role, which became a beloved part of the film. The first film, written and directed by Mark Jones, was also reshot to add more gore to appeal to an older audience.
