‘Wonder Years’ Star Danica McKellar Says Moving Away From Hollywood Changed Her Life
After growing up in California and becoming a huge star as Winnie on The Wonder Years, Danica McKellar recently moved to a different state and admitted that her life has never been better since the move. McKellar moved to Tennessee about a year ago and could not stop raving about the weather and said that it has been a “total quality of life improvement.”
She shared, “I grew up in Southern California and I love LA, and I love California. But I have to say, the seasons are really something else. I love watching the leaves change colors, and I love it when it gets cold. And I love when it’s really hot, humid. Maybe it’s some sort of honeymoon period. I’ve been there about a year now, but I love all the seasons.”
Despite moving away from Hollywood, her career is booming. McKellar is one of the stars that has signed on to the new network Great American Family along with stars such as Candace Cameron Bure. The pair have been friends for many years and she credits Bure for helping her find her faith. She revealed, “I am so grateful to Candace Cameron Bure for bringing me into this era of my life. She really had a lot to do with it. Also my dad. He’s been a believer for a long time. It’s just been a beautiful, beautiful gift, and it feels so good, and I want everyone to have that feeling.”
McKellar opened up about her latest project with the Great American Family network, a movie called Swing into Romance, which features some amazing dance numbers, very reminiscent of her time on Dancing with the Stars. The film premiered last weekend and also stars DWTS pro Gleb Savchenko in his first acting role.
She said about working with Savchenko, “I have to say, this was his first acting job, and he did amazing. It was really fun because I got to coach him in acting. So, he was coaching me in dance, and I was coaching him in acting, and you’d never know it was his first movie. He did a fantastic job playing my ex-fiancé and ex-dance partner, and I can’t wait for you guys to see the movie.” Watch Swing into Romance on the Great American Family Network.
