‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’ Now Streaming on Pluto TV
TV icon Carl Reiner brought us The Dick Van Dyke show in 1961, starring the hilarious Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, about a decade before Tyler Moore received her own show. The series ran until 1966 and followed the work and home life of a television comedy writer for the fictional show The Alan Brady Show Rob Petrie (Van Dyke), his wife Laura (Tyler Moore), and their son Ritchie (Larry Mathews). The character was the perfect role for Van Dyke, known for his slapstick comedy.
The series, which also starred Morey Amsterdam, Rose Marie, Richard Deacon, Ann Morgan Guilbert, and Jerry Paris, won 15 Emmy Awards during its reign on television. It was ranked number 13 on TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. It still remains one of Van Dyke’s best roles as the beloved actor recently turned 97 years old last December.
