‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ Starring Eddie Murphy Coming 30 Years After the Third Film
Eddie Murphy is set to return as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, 30 years after the last film came out. Murphy began playing the role of the Detroit policeman pursuing a murder investigation all the way in Beverly Hills, way back in 1984, with a sequel airing in 1987 and the third installment airing in 1994.
Netflix has now shared a first look at the film, with Axel wearing his signature Detroit Lions jacket. In the new film, Kevin Bacon plays the Los Angeles Police Department’s special-unit officer while Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Axel’s new partner. Original cast members Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot will all appear in the movie as well.

The fourth film will focus on Axel’s daughter (Taylour Paige), who is a criminal defense attorney, dragging him into a case where he will cause issues with Bacon’s character. Axel is seemingly not worried about returning to California as he says while putting on his shades, “I’m gonna be fine. They love me in Beverly Hills.” Returning franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer has nothing but praise for Murphy and Gordon-Levitt as a duo.
He shared, “He gets stuck with Axel and they are hysterical together. Joseph is such a great straight man for Eddie.” As for Murphy, he said, “Anytime he walks on set, you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always pretty brilliant.” Now, Netflix has finally released a teaser trailer.
The movie will premiere on Netflix on July 3, 2024, perfect for relaxing after your July 4th festivities. Are you excited for it?
