Keanu Reeves Wore Dolly Parton’s Famous Playboy Bunny Costume

Dolly Parton and Keanu Reeves have something in common, besides both being actors. They have worn the very same Playboy Bunny costume! Parton’s iconic Playboy cover outfit in 1978 was designed by Reeves’ mom, costume designer Patricia Taylor. Parton remembers Keanu when he was a little boy and would tag along while Taylor fitted Parton’s clothing. She recently opened up about the surprising connection on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Parton said, “She did a lot of sewing for me, she did a lot of my clothes. But I remember Keanu when he was just little. And she would bring him over to my house when we were fitting or when I would go to the shop where she worked.”

She also recalled meeting Reeves later in life, “He said, ‘Do you remember me? I’m the little boy that used to sit at your feet when my mom was [working]. Of course I knew he had become a star but it didn’t connect to me that that was who that was.” During the chat, Drew Barrymore brought up a story that Reeves told a few years ago.

He admitted that Parton never took home the Playboy bunny costume and his mother kept it for many years. One Halloween, he decided he was going to wear it! He explained, “So I put on the ears and the bustier. I wore sneakers with fishnet stockings and the bowtie. I had some pretty long hair. And I was Dolly Parton’s Playboy Bunny.” Too bad there is no photographic proof! However, when Parton heard the story, she was delighted.

In 2021, Parton donned the outfit once again as a surprise for her husband Carl Dean’s birthday. She said at the time, “I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy. He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years and I’m not gonna try to talk him out of that.” As of now, she is slowing down her career travel to take care of Dean, who has been reportedly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
