CBS Airing Special Dedicated to the Late TV Icon Norman Lear with Rare Interviews
Norman Lear, the producer, writer, and creator who had a hand in over 100 television shows, recently passed away at the age of 101. As many fans and celebrities pay tribute to the legendary TV icon, CBS is presenting a special called Norman Lear: A Life on Television on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET.
The special, which will air on CBS and Paramount+, is presented by Entertainment Tonight and will feature new interviews with the stars of the sitcoms that Lear helped to create. Entertainment Tonight has opened its vault of never-before-seen interviews and new footage featuring Lear himself.
Jimmie Walker from Good Times and Mackenzie Phillips from One Day at a Time are two of the celebrities who will share their special memories from working with Lear many decades ago. Lear was responsible for iconic sitcoms such as Sanford and Son, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, and more. He generally worked with CBS and was not afraid to tackle topics such as racism and abortion.
This will be considered one last honor from CBS to Lear, who received many awards during his lifetime including Emmys, Peabody Awards, the Golden Globe Carol Burnett Award, and more. He was working almost right up until his death, proving that television was near and dear to his heart.
He will be missed. Will you be watching the special honoring Lear on Friday night?
